More About Hickory
Hi everyone – my name is Hickory and I’m very happy to introduce myself to you.
I was born on 11/15/24 in Connecticut. My momma was rescued by Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network and a really nice lady named Arlene took care of our momma and helped her when she gave birth to my brother and sisters. She made sure that we were all comfy and warm and that we all got plenty of milk from momma.
When we were six weeks old, our Momma and my brothers and sisters made a really long car journey to Illinois with a stop-over at Aunt Sandy Y’s house in Pennsylvania for a sleepover and so our momma could get a good nights sleep for the rest of our journey the next day. I was SO GOOD on the long car rides and never made a peep.
When we all got to our foster home in Illinois, I was greeted by foster mom and dad. I got all kinds of hugs and kisses and snuggled on foster dad’s lap for the rest of the night. I love to give kisses and to snuggle!
I’ve learned a lot in a week at foster mom and dad’s house. I’ve learned that I’m cute and adorable (they tell me all the time), I’ve learned that toys are so much FUN! I’ve learned that nylabones are for chewing and not foster mom and dad’s toes and fingers, stuffies are SO MUCH FUN to drag around the house and chew on and that rope toys are so much fund to play tug with.
Last night I got my very own small crate to sleep in. I’m used to curling on top of my littermates BUT I had a thick blanket and I was warm and comfy and slept all night long with only a little bit of whining when I first got in the crate.
Yesterday we started learning how to go potty on potty pads. It’s really, really cold here and foster mom says it’s way too cold for a tiny 7 week old puppy to go outside but it’s not too early to start housetraining. Hey, I’m 7 weeks old but I’m doing pretty good at going on the potty pads when we have free play in the house. I’m really smart and I’m learning lots of things.
I LOVE my ground up kibble with water. Foster mom gave us some whole tiny kibble pieces on a blanket yesterday. I used my sharp little teeth to crunch and crunch. It was also a lot of fun to flip the kibble pieces all over the floor and chase it. Foster mom said I should be able to eat the tiny kibble pieces soon instead of the kibble being ground up.
I’m not quite ready for adoption because I need my first shots on 1/20/25. I should be ready for adoption after that. I KNOW you’re going
